He was the Walrus

OK, so I was going to title this entry "I am the Walrus", but that would totally give *everyone* the wrong idea...

Each morning, I walk from the subway to my office, about 15 minutes, through an urban residential neighborhood. I've gotten to know many of the people that I pass each morning, smiling and nodding and wishing a good morning here and there.

This morning, I saw a man I've never seen before. (This is not so amazing - I'm walking through Washington, DC, after all.) He was about six feet tall. He weighed about 300 pounds. He was wearing a three-piece suit (not the norm, these fashion days), grey pinstripe. He had no overcoat, despite the fact that the temp was below freezing.

And he had the most enormous walrus moustache I've ever seen.

I smiled - I couldn't help myself. He tipped an imaginary hat and continued walking down the sidewalk, as stately as the Queen Mary.

I almost hope I *don't* see him again - I want to preserve the current image in my memory for a long, long time.

Mindy, amused by the quotidian. Or the not-so-quotidian, as it might be.
