Revision Time!

And, after a truly wretched day yesterday, I was thrilled to receive my edit letter for GIRL'S GUIDE TO WITCHCRAFT, as promised, last night.

It's always an iffy thing, working with a new editor. One needs to determine lots of things - do we agree on style? On vision for the book, and how it fits into the line? On details of narration and storytelling?

In this case, I am over the moon with the letter I received. It's on a macro level, addressing issues of character development, of plot, of loose ends not quite tied up and tucked in. It was reassuring, comforting, but held me to a reasonable standard. It reminded me of some notes that I'd made for myself while I was writing, and it let me know that a couple of bits that I thought might not be good enough, um, weren't.

But most of all, it confirmed that I've found my voice in a new genre - a voice that I have *loved* writing in. I'm beyond pleased that my editor appreciates what I've done.

And now, I have a month to spit and polish and send off revisions.

Mindy, quite pleased
