Capclave

Capclave is a local SF convention, which is being held this year from October 20-22.  It's relatively small, relatively quite, and relatively relaxed.

This year, for me, it will be VERY relaxed.  I had asked to be placed on programming, and I had volunteered for a half dozen panels (and suggested a few more that had not been on the list they sent us.)  I had also asked to participate in a Conversation Pit (this con's version of kaffeeklatsches.)

Apparently, I didn't match their interests or needs.  While I haven't received any notice from the Programming Chair, I did check the website when I saw [info]suricattus post her schedule.  If you're looking for me at Capclave, the only programming I'm doing is a reading on Saturday afternoon at 1:00.

(Insert grumble, complaint, and obligatory recognition that volunteers *do* structure these things, but...)  Oh well - more time to hang out with friends and socialize!  Also, I'll now be free on Friday and Sunday to do non-con things.

I say we storm an open space and hold our own conversation pit!
I've always liked the way you think! :-)

Alternative/Additional suggestion?

Come by and see me at work? We're not too far from the hotel and I'll be there until 10 PM both Saturday and Sunday.

Re: Alternative/Additional suggestion?

Hmmmmm.... What time do you get to work? And do you have scheduled breaks? (I'm trying to work out a couple of business meetings, but I'd love to see you, if the timing works out!)

Re: Alternative/Additional suggestion?

Shift starts at 2; I usually take my break around 6 on Saturday and 5:15 on Sunday, but that's exceptionally maleable. I'd love to introduce you (and LAG if she's so inclined) to one of my favorite places in the area. It's a little wine shop/cafe called Adega.

Re: Alternative/Additional suggestion?

And, obviously, none of this came to fruition...

I ended up being scheduled for more things the moment I walked in the door at the con - an autographing session that I had not known about at all, a panel that I learned about the day before the con.

I apologize for not getting back to you before the con - things have been spinning out of control and, alas, this week and Mark's mother's illness just made things all the more topsy-turvy. We'll have to rectify all that - at *next* year's Capclave, if not before :-)
