Friday, the Thirteenth

This evening, I celebrated (observed?  participated in?) Friday the 13th, by doing a reading from GIRL'S GUIDE TO WITCHCRAFT for a group of librarians.  At first, I had contemplated reading from one of the later, library-intensive chapters.  But then, I realized that I would end up giving away too many major plot points.  I stuck with Chapter 3, which has worked very well for other readings.

And, lo, the reading went well.

Of course, I was greatly helped by the fact that the hostess had provided wine, cheese, Halloween candy, and those little pumpkins made out of candy corn stuff.  I enjoyed chatting with everyone, and I re-connected with some friends I hadn't seen in ages.

All in all, a good way to spend a "bad-luck" day!  How did everyone else mark this Friday the 13th?

I slept in, rearranged my office to work better around my new (old -- it was my dad's) desk, and then did a metric boatload of paperwork. Such excitement...
Normally, I love Friday the 13th. However, this one began with me missing my bus, having to wait in gusty winds (-1C / -6C with the windchill) and getting to the office almost an hour late.

Next time? I'm taking a cab.
You should! I think that's a prerogative of living in the frozen North! :-)
I ordered GIRL'S GUIDE from my local independant book store then went and played at 2 pumpkin patches with various hay and corn mazes. Should the second be a maize maze?
LOL - I hope that you enjoy the book! (And it sounds as if you are having a lovely fall, maize mazing and all!)
I went to the dentist and found out that I need a root canal. Which will happen on Tuesday.

So sorry to hear about the root canal. My mother has had many, many of them, and she says that the pain is nowhere near as bad as it is rumored to be.

Be kind to yourself, before and after!
