Alas, our trip to Silverdocs had one major casualty: Mark’s iPad. I am incredibly upset, because I feel responsible, even though what happened was the classic definition of an accident.
The weather was very hot last week, and on the days that we commuted to the festival, we carried water bottles. On the second day, I took a totebag, to hold my purse, our water bottles, my book, and Mark’s iPad (so that we could find a cafe and read during a 4-hour gap between movies.)
Some time, on the way home, one of the water bottles leaked. Of course, it managed not to ruin my book; instead, it destroyed the iPad. When we got home, we put it in rice, and the next day, we put it in silica gel. Alas, it’s totally non-responsive.
I’m frustrated because we’ve used those water bottles before and never had a leak. Also, I feel responsible, because I could have reacted faster (when I realized my pants were wet from the water, maybe, just maybe, I could have saved the iPad.)
In the end, though, there’s nothing to be done. I just feel especially sad because it’s Mark’s device that is ruined. So far, he’s refusing to replace it, sticking with older technology. Sigh.
So, Silverdocs turned out to be rather more expensive than we thought it would be. But the movies were still wonderful!
