Fashion Girls

How I Spent my Spring Vacation.

Oh. Wait. I don't get Spring Vacation any more.

In any case - you can now look and see how I've spent the past couple of weeks - teaching myself enough CSS and Dreamweaver 8 and blog-re-design skills to launch my new and improved website - http://www.mindyklasky.com. Don't miss the contest - win valuable prizes! Tell your friends! Your family!  Enter early and often!  (Well, entering once a month makes you eligible for that entire month's worth of prizes...)

Oh - and the detail-minded among you will notice that the blog has changed names - it's now Virtual Cocktails.  And I've updated my icon as well....

Mindy, ready to retire from web-design :-)

Very sharp!

I'm thinking about how to redesign my site, hopefully this summer. Styles have changed so much over the past few years.
I agree, about the change in styles. I was *astonished* when I saw how much the free templates have, um, evolved on owsd.org. I started looking at them, most recent to oldest, and I stopped after about 10 pages, because the "oldest" were so staid and personality-less.

(There were a few there that I loved, but they were *very* graphic intense, and not quite right for my site.)

Good luck with your revamping, when you get to it!
Thanks for the link to oswd.org!! I'd been looking for something like that during my last attempted redesign, and failed to find it. I used the Google Page Creator (jennreese.googlepages.com) to get something done fast, but it lacks character, despite being really easy to update. I'm really looking forward to going through their template archive. Woo!
Glad I could be of assistance :-)

I was *enchanted* by some of the templates, especially the ones by tristar and dreamlogic. I just about decided to write a new book, so that I could make dreamlogic's "Lounge" template work for me! :-)

And I think you did a fine job with your Google page!
The site looks good! Nice and clean, good colors, easy to navigate. I like it! :)
Merci! I find that I am really, really attracted to spare... Oh, and to left-justified margins :-)
GORGEOUS!!! This from a has-been Web and usability designer. It makes me drool. (But in a good way.)
Wow! The Jenn Reese seal of approval?!? I can retire happy from my web-monkey days :-)
Spiffy new LJ and website designs! Very neat and user friendly.

Alas, we've lost your bookshelf.

Jacquie
Ha! I didn't think that anyone paid attention to the bookshelf!

I intend to fold those entries into the blog, posting as I complete books, and keeping track of the annual list that way.

Thanks for noticing :-)
Nicely done!

*loves web design too much to retire, but hasn;t had time for it of late*
Time. Now that *is* the challenge, isn't it?

Mindy, off to catch up on the writing that she should have been doing much more of!
It's very pretty and I like the mojitoes. But one thing . . . On the homepage, in the text, the various links come up gray when they've been visited. And it's hard to read after that. Maybe the same pink you use on the upper table of links for used links? Does that even make sense? I really like the book layout, and the Girl's cover. Looking forward to the book!

Hmmm... I replied yesterday, but my reply never made it here! In any case - I've tweaked the link color to a dark green - let me know if that reads more clearly. (I didn't want to go with either crimson or gold, because that confused the readability of the rest of the page (highlighted material or un-touched links.)
I think that works a lot better. More readable, and the green resonates well with the side columns of color. Kudos!

Di
Merci! Thanks for taking the time to comment back!
