Inspiration Rides the Waves

By yesterday afternoon, the weather had cleared enough that I could go for a walk along the beach. I traipsed out toward The Point (an outcropping of rock into the ocean, which is my usual goal for my long beach ramblings down here - it's far enough that I actually am amazed when I turn around to walk back; I question whether I'll make it, but of course I do, because I'm really quite a wimp, and it's not *that* far...)

Alas, the tide was so high that The Point was covered. Still, I managed to get almost all the way out to where it would have been.

And, on the way back home, I leaned into the strong wind. And I thought. A lot.

And now, I have a whole new character, a whole new world, and a problem-to-be-solved for a new fantasy series.

Walking on the beach must be almost as productive as taking a shower!

Doubly so, because I took showers after walks, to wash away the salt spray :-)

hey, that's brilliant. i had a story in mind this past fall, but i hit a major plot road block - and with school i've had to put it on the backburner. maybe once i graduate (although i'll be off to grad school a month later, so who knows).

randomly, i like your lj color scheme. it's pretty.
Grad school in what?

Thanks, re the color scheme. I had fun playing with it. I might tweak it for a month or so, after GUIDE comes out, to make it conform to the book cover.

Well, either the University of Limerick's MA in Traditional Irish Music Performance (Ireland), or Lancaster University's MA in Religious Studies (England).

I've been accepted to the latter and will be auditioning for the former on the phone on Friday. If I get accepted to the music school, I'll do that for sure and then get my MA in Religious Studies the following year. More or less because jobs in Irish Music Performance are limited. But it's something I've always wanted to do. And I really love both fields...

Not that jobs in Religious Studies are much better, mind you.
Why play it safe :-)

Good luck with the audition today!
