Creative Book-Shopping

If you're at all like me, you have *way* too many books you want to buy, and nowhere near the money to spend on them.  (Or the time to read them, but that's not a problem I'm addressing today :-) )

One way to bridge the purchase gap is to find quality reading material for free.  That search became a little easier today.  Karl Schroeder has released his first novel, Ventus (originally published by Tor)  as a Creative-Commons-licensed ebook.  You can find it at Karl's website:  www.kschroeder.com.

Enjoy!

Mindy, tossing out book ideas for others, since she knows her own to-be-read shelves are about to break :-)

It's not the buying... it's the having time to read that's the problem.

I'm with you. My TBR shelf overflowed a long time ago and now includes a stack that's reaching for waist high. I've downloaded it so I can sample Karl's work. Personally I love the download the first chapter as a marketing strategy. It really works well for me.

Hey Mindy, I do know exactly how you feel! I'm pretty broke right now so buying books has to rank below food and the electric bill for now. I did stumble across this really awesome website www.goodreads.com you sign up (its kind of like myspace for book worms) and you can actually swap books with people in your area, it saves you from actually having to put up the money for your first read through. Thought you'd like to know about it :) have a great day.
